The very definition of 'scathing'...

This review of the Microsoft Zune, their latest attempt at trying to break into the multi-media and content delivery market, made me laugh.
As one ILUG member commented: "I think you could use that review if somebody ever asked you what 'scathing' meant."

The teachings of Emmerdale, according to Rach

"It [Emmerdale] just goes to show you, whether your 15 or 70, men still cause you problems." -- Rachael
Erm... she's not far wrong... probably...

The English Language

Yes... "eggified" is a real genuine word. I know this because I had to eggify a number of slices of pre-toast (some people naïevely refer to this as bread) this morning in order to enjoy a delicious and nutricious breakfast of French Toast. It was tasty good and categorically proves that 'eggification' is alive and well in Ireland.

Utterly useless statements

And this week's winner for the most useless, meaningless statement goes to Head and Shoulders, for their most excellent statement that their shampoo will make your hair "up to 100% dandruff free!" I think I can say without fear of contradiction that my hair is currently up to 100% dandruff free, without the application of Head and Shoulders. Not only that, but if I applied lard, mashed potato and salad cream to my hair, it would still be categorically, unequivocally up to 100% dandruff free.

I'm leaning towards understanding the vehemence in Bill Hicks' request that all people working in marketting and advertising should please kill themselves.

Internet in Ireland

Dear Irish ISPs (Eircom, IBB, Esat BT and probaly others I've not tested) : Please fix your internet. Some fast, reverse DNS would be nice. Some not broken routing would be good. Some kind of NOT forcing a new IP address to my router every few minutes would be excellent.
I am getting very VERY fed up of ALL of my many PuTTY sessions all locking up and timing out. Please fix it and make me happy. kthxbye.

Congratulations Seb and Sol

They are now well and truly and officially married forever and ever, which is quite a long time - notwithstanding the linearity or non-linearity of same. A great time was had by all, with 13 nationalities, not including the People's Republic of Cork contingent.
I have utterly failed to put any photographs up for two very good reasons:

  1. I was so busy during the wedding I didn't take many
  2. My iBook is dead which means I don't really have any kind of decent home PC at the moment. This sucks.
  3. Other people took much better pictures than me anyway
Okay, that's three reasons and not the two as promised, but nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition now, do they?

Congratulations to Seb and Sol - have a wonderful life together :-)
