Magical Toast
Inspired by a posting by my sister on her shiney new magical toaster, Sinéad requested that I type an e-mail to my sister. In fairness, I was sitting next to Sinéad on the couch at the time, with a laptop on my lap... here's what came out (with apologies to CBeebies and the fine work they do there) :
Subject: Sinéad wanted to tell you...
... this thing - but she made me type it :-( Grrrrrrrrrr! Women! (etc.)
You will need:
- 1 small paintbrush
- Some food colouring
- 1 bit of milk (Dear Lord Sweet Jeebus - Sinéad is great with quantities!) Correction: Sinéad says, "some bits of milk - one bit for each colour."
- Some bread
- A toaster (she's a bit vague on whether you require the magical variety or not... She did get this from CBeebies, so I'm not holding out much hope for anything good to come of it...)
- Some imagination (with Sinéad doing suitable bizarre hand movements and giggling which is really starting to worry me quite a lot...)
You have to:
- Mix some food colouring into some milk - but not much - because you want quite strong coloured milk. (See how specific Sinéad is with quantities! I now have no clue how much milk or food colouring you should use. I suggest you guess.)
- Use the paintbrush to point "pretty little pictures" on the toast (correction: bread!) (again with suitable painting-like hand movements from Sinéad... scary....)
- Use the imagination to tell you what "pretty little pictures" you should draw.
- Then you have to let the bread dry for a little while before you toast it. And don't toast it too much, otherwise you won't be able to see your pictures.
The end.
Sinead is looking at me with a big smile on her face now and staying very quiet (except for the incessant giggling which started about ingredient number 2 and has continued through the whole thing...)
She's quite adamant now that she hasn't made this up but saw it on CBeebies - I'm not sure if that'll make it taste competent or not... I guess you can give it a whirl.
See you soon.
Hugs,
-->Gar
