
True story: Friend on mine in the States was recently unable to make a call on his mobile. Wondering what was up with his previously functioning phone, he called customer support and managed to find an automated recording claiming that his current bill stood at $140,465.73. More surprising was that he had apparently paid $125,296.24 earlier that month.
Speaking with him today revealed that he, in fact, owed $3 and that the system had also marked his phone as stolen - which it clearly wasn't - for good measure. Yes! American! Cellphone! Competence!...
