No thanks to...
- ...the idiot in Connolly Station who sold me a broken train ticket - so it won't work in the ticket barriers in Grand Canal Dock. Oh joy!
- ...the powers that control the train service from Balbriggan in the morning. Today's train was jam packed at Balbriggan, but still had to fit people from Skerries, Rush & Lusk and Donabate - and then broke down at Pearse.
- ...the nice people who have hiked up train ticket prices once again - my formerly €24.80 weekly ticket is now €26. Maybe it's just the paranoia talking, but I reckon there must be some group of top officials making money hand-over-fist from transport in Dublin, wondering how much worse they can make it before the Dubliners actually revolt.
I shall be switching away from using public transport very shortly. While I would consider myself environmentally concious and would like to do my part in having less congested roads, less smog and less fossil fuels burned in the name of transport - there just is no workable alternative in Ireland.
