Bigbro's foray into the scary world of blogging
Ubuntu Gutsy is generally available today, available for download in Ireland from ftp.heanet.ie in the usual fashion. The only shortcoming I've seen thus far is a feature of the installer, which refuses to reuse the root partition without formatting - which is a pity, because I like things like my home directory data to live through installs. The ubuntu installer says,
"The file system on /dev/sda2 assigned to / has not been marked for formatting. File systems used by the system (/, /boot, /usr, /var) must be reformatted for use by this installer. [...]"Next time I shall use debootstrap and be done with it. Still, it looks shiny :)
